Meet Our Dentist/Dental Surgeons & Hygienist Teams at Kensington Court Clinic

Dentists, being medical healthcare professionals, provide treatments for dental and oral disease and injuries, as well as preventing dental health problems. They offer advice, carry out dental and surgical procedures, and examine patients’ dental and oral hygiene.

Their responsibilities include conducting examinations in a surgery or hospital, operating technical equipment like X-ray machines, collaborating with other medical professionals such as health visitors and dental nurses, keeping accurate records of patients’ dental structure for identification purposes, staying up-to-date with dentistry advancements, working alongside a medical nurse and a receptionist, receiving continuous training and specialising, leading and supporting a dental team, and providing more complex treatments in a hospital to patients who have suffered disease or facial injuries.

Alternatively, dental hygienists play a crucial role in preventing dental issues. By assessing patients’ dental health, their focus lies in identifying and treating gum diseases. With extensive training in oral care, they possess the expertise to remove tartar and plaque, thereby keeping teeth and gums healthy. In addition to this, dental hygienists provide valuable insights into maintaining a healthy diet to avoid dental issues like tooth decay and maintain an overall healthy lifestyle.

Whilst dentists possess a broader range of skills to treat and restore teeth and gums, dental hygienists specialise in cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth. It is important to note that both dental hygienists and dentists are registered dental professionals.
